Psychology’s Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Report

Last year the Canadian Psychological Association and the Psychology Foundation of Canada commissioned a joint task force to address the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report (2015). The task force was created to develop concrete, action-oriented recommendations in order to improve the field’s service to the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit populations in Canada.  With additional financial support from the University of Guelph-Humber, the task force carried out its mandate and provided its report to both CPA Board of Directors and PFC Board of Trustees. In April of this year both Boards voted to accept the report and will begin acting on its recommendations. Task force representatives are scheduled to discuss the report at the 29th International Congress of Applied Psychology, on June 26th, 2018 at 10:15 AM in room 516 E, Palais des congrès, Montréal, Québec.  The Task Force invites all ICAP delegates  interested in hearing about the report, and discussing the ways forward, to attend. Importantly, the task force asks all readers to be mindful that its report represents the start of a collaborative discussion, not a conclusion. All feedback is welcome.  See below the report.
