The “Make the Connection” parenting program was developed to promote healthy parent-child attachment relationships and provide the essential building blocks for a child’s future emotional well-being. Healthy attachment relationships during childhood offer substantial protection by building coping skills and emotion regulation abilities for adult life.
This “Make the Connection” 0-3 facilitator training will help you promote healthy, attachment relationships in either an informal small group or one-on-one situation.
You will learn how to use songs and rhymes, everyday toys and other activities to strengthen parent-baby bonding as well as learn how to make the most of parent discussions and instructional DVDs. There are many opportunities throughout the workshop for hands-on activities and discussions on how you might adapt the information for the cultural background of your families.
This one day workshop will cover:
BABIES – What infants (birth to 1) need for a good start, including traditional customs, new research on attachment, everyday activities that promote positive parent-baby relationships.
TODDLERS – What toddlers (1-3) need to maintain their attachment while they strive for independence, attachment activities for parents and toddlers and how your relationship with parents helps their relationship with the baby.
